PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium: What Did Sony REMOVE in May 2025?

Yes, the question isn’t about the games that Sony has added to its subscription service—we wrote about that two weeks ago—but rather, the games that it has taken away.

We have always criticized Sony for its lack of transparency. If Microsoft can announce twice a month which titles will be removed from Xbox Game Pass, Sony should do the same for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium. We’re not writing about PlayStation Plus Essential because the company offers different free titles every month, so it’s understandable that the new titles replace the previous month’s games.

So, what are the 22 (!) games that Sony removed from the lineup on May 20? The answer is: Grand Theft Auto V, MotoGP 24, The Sims 4: Island Living, Resistance: Fall of Man, Resistance 2, Walkabout Mini Golf, Synth Riders, Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, Before Your Eyes, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners — Chapter 2: Retribution, Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2, Stranded: Alien Dawn, The Lego Movie 2 Videogame, Ghostrunner, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Journey to the Savage Planet, Portal Knights, Enter the Gungeon, Batman: Arkham Knight, and inFAMOUS: Second Son.

Grand Theft Auto V is in and out of the list, but some major titles are leaving. The most inexplicable departure is that of in-house developed games. The first two parts of Resistance were developed for the PS3 by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, the predecessor of Sony Interactive Entertainment. Why can’t that be kept as a permanent title on the service? InFAMOUS: Second Son is also an in-house development, created by Sucker Punch for the PlayStation 4.

Sony removed 22 games but only added 10 (and only one game for PlayStation Plus Premium). That’s not very fair.
