TECH NEWS – According to Apple’s patent, it will be possible to take high-quality pictures in low light conditions or while sitting in a moving car.

Apple may be developing a new, user-friendly iPhone camera that can take sharper photos with faster autofocus, ensuring that no moment is missed. Thanks to new dual autofocus technology, iPhone users can capture perfectly focused shots every time, even while riding in a vehicle or through a glass window. Apple recently received a patent for this technology, which takes iPhone camera capabilities to a new level. The patent, US 12335613, describes a mechanism by which future iPhone models will use a dual autofocus system to eliminate blurry photos and videos.

According to the patent, devices will fire two invisible laser beams at slightly different angles to allow cameras to capture sharper images. Current iPhones rely on an infrared projector to focus. While the results are competitive, images are sometimes blurry. When the camera app is launched, the patent states that both autofocus lasers emit a pulse of light, and the sensors measure the distance between different objects. As soon as the lasers measure the distance between the sensor and the subject, the camera automatically locks focus. If the readings do not match, however, the camera reverts to traditional single autofocus mode. This process occurs in a fraction of a second, enabling you to capture a perfect shot without delay.

A dual autofocus camera would eliminate common focus errors caused by reflections from water, glass, or metal, which distort photos. An extra laser beam would also collect depth data more accurately. This technology would allow for better photos to be taken inside a moving vehicle, for example, without having to constantly click on the subject to focus.

While Apple hasn’t confirmed whether this technology will be included in the iPhone 17, it could represent a significant advancement in iPhone photography. The industry may follow suit.
