The Terminal List: Dark Wolf – Taylor Kitsch steps into the shadows in Prime Video’s new explosive prequel

MOVIE NEWS – Prime Video is expanding its action thriller universe with the first trailer for The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, a high-octane prequel to the hit series The Terminal List. After Chris Pratt’s intense turn as Navy SEAL James Reece, the new series throws the spotlight on Taylor Kitsch as Ben Edwards, a SEAL-turned-CIA operative whose story dives deeper into the brutal world of covert warfare and moral ambiguity.

Set years before the original series that debuted in 2022, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf is promising a relentless dose of action and intrigue. Arriving on August 27, 2025, the show is co-created by Jack Carr, author of The Terminal List, and showrunner David DiGilio, and is already building hype thanks to a trailer packed with tension.
“The Terminal List: Dark Wolf charts the evolution of Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch) as he moves from Navy SEAL to shadowy CIA special operations,” reads the official synopsis. “This is a spy thriller that digs into the hidden costs of warfare, the personal toll, and the consequences that come from living in the shadows. Chris Pratt reprises his role as James Reece.”

Divisive, Unapologetic, and a Fan Favorite

The Terminal List series, based on Jack Carr’s bestselling novel, was never afraid to polarize. Centered on James Reece (Chris Pratt) as he unravels the truth behind a devastating ambush that wiped out his unit, the show found an audience that celebrated its tough, uncompromising edge – but critics were split. As evidence mounts and Reece is pulled into a conspiracy that endangers everyone he loves, the story doubles down on action and paranoia, with each episode upping the stakes.

With a cast featuring Constance Wu, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Riley Keough, Tom Hopper, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Jai Courtney, the first season was a streaming juggernaut, racking up over a billion minutes viewed. But the numbers only tell half the story: while fans embraced the show with a 94% audience score, critics were much harsher, with some accusing the series of “glorifying violence” and others dismissing it as “anti-woke.” Jack Carr, the author and executive producer, was blunt:
“We don’t mention politics. Some reviewers see an American flag, and they lose their minds. Or they see someone competent with weapons, holding leaders accountable, and they freak out. We didn’t make it for critics. For me and Chris Pratt, what mattered was giving veterans something real—a story where they could say, ‘This one’s for us.’”

Don’t miss The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, dropping August 27 on Prime Video. Season two of The Terminal List is also in the works.
