The creators of Helldivers 2 made sure to avoid any confusion and clarified two key details about the Xbox version—neither of which will make Xbox fans happy. The game will NOT be available on Game Pass, and cross-progression is not in the plans, despite what many hoped for.
Thousands of Super-Earth soldiers cheered when Helldivers 2 was announced for Xbox Series. But that excitement didn’t last long: Arrowhead Game Studios quickly cleared up two crucial points—Helldivers 2 is not coming to Game Pass, and you won’t be able to transfer your progress between platforms.
After the announcement, the game’s Discord server was flooded with questions, but several Arrowhead developers jumped in to answer. Community Manager Baskinator made it clear: “There are no plans to bring it to Game Pass.”
Baskinator later added: “There are currently no plans to [implement] cross-progression.” That disappointed fans, since creative director Johan Pilestedt had previously hinted at the possibility of sharing progress between PlayStation and PC. Now, with Baskinator’s latest statement, it’s official: the team isn’t working on that feature.
One thing is certain: crossplay is in, so PC, PlayStation, and Xbox players can join forces to defend Super-Earth. Plus, the Xbox Series X pre-order armor set will eventually be available on PS5 and PC as well—though no release date has been announced yet.
More Content and Surprises Ahead
Helldivers 2 launches on Xbox Series X August 26. Arrowhead Game Studios said in their official statement: “We have so much more in store for the coming months and years, and the more players we have, the more stories we can tell!” The sci-fi shooter clearly has a busy future ahead.
