The Legend of Zelda Live-Action Movie: The Identities of Link and Zelda Have Finally Been Revealed!

‘Legend of Zelda’ Live-Action Movie Casts Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Zelda and Link

MOVIE NEWS – Nintendo and Sony have revealed the stars of their live-action Legend of Zelda movie: Bo Bragason will play Zelda, while Benjamin Evan Ainsworth has been cast as Link.

The live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda has finally unveiled its leads. Bo Bragason steps into the role of Zelda, and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will portray Link, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto announced Wednesday with what appear to be the first official costume photos on social media.

“I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of ‘The Legend of Zelda,’ Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san,” read Nintendo’s official post. “I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.”

British actress Bragason is known for her work in the BBC One series Three Girls and The Jetty, as well as Disney+’s Renegade Nell. Last year, she starred in Euros Lyn’s vampire comedy The Radleys. Ainsworth, also British, was the voice of Pinocchio in Robert Zemeckis’ live-action Pinocchio and played Miles in the Netflix series The Haunting of Bly Manor. He also stars in the Canadian comedy Son of a Critch and appeared in an episode of Netflix’s The Sandman.

The Legend of Zelda is set for theatrical release on May 7, 2027. Last month, the date was pushed back from March “for production reasons,” Miyamoto explained.

The movie will be directed by Wes Ball (The Maze Runner, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) with Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad producing. After the smash success of Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. Movie, all eyes are on The Legend of Zelda to see if it will be the next box office sensation for Sony.
