MOVIE NEWS – There’s nothing like a good thriller that’ll have you on the edge of your seat. The thriller genre has produced some of the highest-grossing films, especially when combined with other genres such as crime, action, and superhero. Thrillers also boast some of the most intriguing plots, and the newest to appear is a film starring Andor’s Diego Luna. According to Deadline, the actor will join forces with Terminal List star Taylor Kitsch in an indie thriller titled Eleven Days. The movie, directed by Peter Landesman, who also helmed Parkland and Concussion, is expected to bring the heat in various ways.
Eleven Days will be set in 1974, during extremely hot summer days in Texas. A determined and ruthless prisoner, Federico Carrasco (Luna), plays a round of a deadly game against the head of the Texas Department of Corrections, Jim Estelle (Kitsch), following an escape plan gone wrong. Carrasco takes over the Huntsville Penitentiary and holds people hostage in a game that might not have any winners. Lines begin to blur as the siege goes on for 11 long, brutal days. Writer and actor Kevin Sheridan wrote the screenplay with revisions by Landesman. According to Deadline, it is based on a William T. Harper book titled Eleven Days In Hell: The 1974 Carrasco Prison Siege at Huntsville, Texas.
Production is expected to begin in September, and it’ll be filmed in Texas. Vincent Newman and Vance Howard serve as producers. Diego Luna has become a fan-favorite actor over the past few years with his lead role as Cassian Andor in Disney+’s Andor. He was also the executive producer of the critically acclaimed series. Although it garnered multiple Emmy nominations and was one of the most popular shows, the creative team decided to end it after two seasons. One of his first lead roles came as Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo in 20 episodes of Narcos: Mexico.
Taylor Kitsch currently stars as Ben Edwards, a CIA Ground Branch operative and former Navy SEAL, in The Terminal List. The Amazon Prime Video series, which stars Chris Pratt and Constance Wu, follows Lieutenant Commander James Reece (Pratt) after he returns home questioning his culpability. He finds out that a dark force is working against him, which endangers his life and the ones he loves. Earlier this year, Kitsch starred in the Netflix miniseries American Primeval as Isaac Reed/Spotted Hawk. His character is skilled in the Western, haunted by the loss of his family. The series is set in 1857 during the Utah War.
While fans wait for Eleven Days, Diego Luna has a movie coming out in October that many believe will get its star, Jennifer Lopez, an Oscar nomination. In Kiss of the Spider Woman, Luna will star as Valentin Arregui/Armando, a political prisoner who shares a cell with Luis Molina (Tonatiuh Elizarraraz), a window dresser. Stuck together, the two form a bond as Molina tells the stories of a Hollywood musical starring his favorite silver-screen diva, Ingrid Luna (Lopez). The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January and is scheduled for release in theaters in the United States on October 10, 2025. Bill Condon wrote and directed the screenplay.
