Ubisoft gives good news and confirms what was an open secret by announcing the return of a legendary saga.

The Ghost Recon saga represents a fundamental pillar in Ubisoft’s catalog, consolidating itself as one of its most iconic franchises in the tactical shooter genre. Since its origins, the IP has evolved with different formulas, going from the military operations of Ghost Recon: Wildlands to the forest environments of Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. After several years of uncertainty, fans are eager for a new installment that has now been confirmed.

Ready to return to the battlefield? Ubisoft has officially confirmed that a new game in the Ghost Recon franchise is in development, and that it will be a first-person installment. The news was revealed during a shareholder meeting (via Game File), where Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot cited the success of Rainbow Six Siege as an example of its expertise in games as a service.

The Ubisoft executive revealed that the company will invest in upcoming releases from major brands like The Division (a third installment is in development) and, in this case, Ghost Recon. Later, Ubisoft CFO Frederic Duquet was asked about Tencent’s investment and specified that it will be used for the development of other major brands, pointing to Ghost Recon as “an example for our first-person shooter games.”
