It’s great when something is available for free on the PlayStation Store, and it’s even better when you don’t need a PlayStation Plus subscription.
PlayStation owners can play this new RPG on their PlayStation 5 for free, and a PlayStation Plus subscription isn’t necessary. It’s always helpful to be able to try out a game before spending your hard-earned cash on it. Think of it as a test drive. We’ve all been there. We wait months for a new game to come out, only to find out that it’s terrible, and our money is wasted.
Free demos and trial versions can’t guarantee success, but they can significantly reduce the chances of this happening. Usually, at least with PlayStation, trial versions are only available with the most expensive subscription, PlayStation Plus Premium. However, this is not the case with Konami’s new action RPG, Edens Zero, which was released on July 15.
“This is a 3D action RPG based on the space fantasy comic and anime Edens Zero by Hiro Mashima, creator of Fairy Tail and Rave Master. Players control a diverse cast of characters who embark on an epic adventure across different planets while battling powerful enemies!” reads the game’s synopsis.
You can transfer your data to the full game if you purchase it. According to Metacritic, Edens Zero did not receive outstanding scores; it received a score of 64 out of 100 from the press and an average user rating of 5.8 out of 10. The situation is better on Steam, where 83% of user reviews are positive. Sadly, the game has only received 43 reviews on Valve’s digital platform in all this time. (And yes, the demo is available on Steam and the Microsoft Store.)
The only question now is when the new era of demos will begin. After all, it’s about time for trial versions to become as widespread as they were two decades ago.
