Picture a Far Cry-style shooter, only packed with terror and dinosaurs – that’s exactly what FEROCIOUS brings to the table, and it wears its Dino Crisis inspiration proudly. The demo is out now, there’s a brand-new story trailer, but the true show-stealers are the swarms of dinosaurs you’ll have to face down.
Dinosaurs have always been a massive draw for millions. The Jurassic Park movies are pop culture icons, while gamers still regard Dino Crisis as a survival horror classic. The thrill of hunting – or being hunted by – prehistoric beasts with modern weapons is a concept that never grows old, putting players smack in the middle of the wild.
That’s exactly the premise behind FEROCIOUS: a first-person shooter marooned on a deadly dinosaur island. The latest trailer finally gives us a look at the game’s story, frantic action, and just how many prehistoric monsters are lurking around every corner. OMYOG and publisher tinyBuild first revealed this project over four years ago, back when the main goal was for the hero to find his brother after a shipwreck.
FEROCIOUS: The Dinosaur Game Fans Have Been Waiting For
The heart of FEROCIOUS centers on a mysterious shipwreck on an island trapped in a lost era, teeming with extinct creatures ranging from dinosaurs to giant crabs capable of reducing a person to mincemeat. While surviving, players receive radio help from an anonymous woman, but it’s not just dinosaurs they’ll need to watch out for: a high-tech corporation called Manifesto might be even more dangerous.
The creators want everyone to know: FEROCIOUS has a free demo available on Steam right now. According to OMYOG, the playable test has already hooked players, with some sinking over ten hours into the demo, according to Gamingbolt.
This villainous group has outposts and advanced weaponry hidden throughout the island. The FEROCIOUS trailer – already drawing comparisons to Titanfall and Far Cry – looks spectacular, running on Unreal Engine 5. On top of that, it turns out you can even befriend some smaller dinos and collect a serious arsenal to battle both Manifesto and the island’s wild fauna.
