MOVIE NEWS – No sooner was the Wolfenstein series announced for Prime Video than the internet decided: who else but Alan Ritchson could play BJ Blazkowicz? Amazon probably isn’t thrilled with the crowd’s favorite, but the Reacher star seems like a perfect fit for the role.
Just days ago, news broke that Amazon is working on a Wolfenstein series in collaboration with the producers behind Fallout. The runaway success of the sci-fi adaptation has motivated the tech giant to bring even more video game worlds to the screen—this time diving into an alternate history where the Nazis won World War II. Naturally, the big question is what story we’ll get and, if it’s a faithful adaptation, who could possibly play William “BJ” Blazkowicz?
This is what always happens: as soon as a major series is announced, the internet fires up the casting debates and everyone throws their favorite pick into the ring. This time, though, I have to agree with the name that’s been trending most across social media. First off, Tom Holland hasn’t been mentioned (or maybe I missed it), which is honestly great for my sanity (just kidding…). But more importantly, Alan Ritchson is someone who’s already proven he can carry a hit on Amazon’s platform—everyone’s already picturing Reacher, right?
Alan Ritchson Wants to Be Batman Instead…
The truth is, Ritchson’s name pops up for a lot of roles: fans (and the man himself) have pitched him as Batman in James Gunn’s rebooted DCU, or even as Superman. But the requirements for the Dark Knight are a bit different, and maybe that’s why the former Smallville star hasn’t landed the part. As for BJ Blazkowicz, it’s a different story: you need someone with raw power, brutal presence, but also enough charisma to win over millions of viewers. If he’s already an action pro, that’s just more reason to cast him.
And of course, he actually looks the part. The image making the rounds online says it all—one post has already racked up over 45,000 likes on X (Twitter). In the end, the final call rests with the series’ producers, but given how successful Reacher has been, Amazon would probably be happy to have Ritchson back for another big project. There’s always the Henry Cavill option (he shows up in every fan casting, and Amazon likes him too!), but let’s not complicate things further.
Scheduling conflicts are always a concern, and the studio will have to decide if they want a big-name star or a more budget-friendly, lesser-known face. Of course, it’s possible the right actor and the producers might not even see eye-to-eye creatively. At this point, we still don’t know if Prime Video will be adapting the games directly or crafting a totally original story set in this grim, alternate universe.
