MOVIE NEWS – Imagine Friday Night Lights colliding with Nosferatu at midfield—that’s how Ben Travis of Empire describes the genre-defying new film HIM. He’s all for the idea, pointing out that sports movies and horror have rarely been mixed, let alone quite like this.
The story follows a rising American football player (Tyriq Withers) who is invited by a legendary, semi-retired quarterback (Marlon Wayans) to train with him. But the secluded training facility hides chilling secrets, and the coach isn’t what he appears to be—his motives are a mystery.
One of HIM’s producers is Jordan Peele, a trailblazer for auteur horror (Get Out, Us, Nope). “At Monkeypaw, we love ideas we shouldn’t make. Mixing sports and horror sounded so impossible, so out there, it was obviously meant for me,” he said.
(HIM – in Hungarian cinemas: September 18, 2025)
