TECH NEWS – LG has unveiled the UltraGear™ 27GX700A, a 27-inch gaming monitor featuring the company’s 4th-gen Tandem OLED panel and VESA DisplayHDR™ True Black 500 certification. The spec sheet targets high brightness and fast response, with a Hungary launch slated for the fall.
At the core is LG’s Primary RGB Tandem design: a four-emitter OLED stack with separate red and green layers plus two blue layers. The intent is straightforward—push brightness and color accuracy beyond what single-stack OLED monitors typically achieve.
UL Solutions’ “Perfect Black” label and the headline VESA DisplayHDR™ True Black 500 certification suggest deep blacks with enough peak output to preserve shadow detail. In other words, HDR without crushed dark scenes.
Color coverage is listed at 99.5% of DCI-P3, alongside UL “Perfect Color Consistency” and Intertek “100% Color Fidelity” badges. LG quotes up to 1500 nits peak brightness for punchy highlights.
Speed credentials: 0.03 ms GtG and 280 Hz
Resolution is QHD (2560×1440), response time a claimed 0.03 ms (GtG), and refresh tops out at 280 Hz. The panel works with NVIDIA® G-SYNC® and AMD FreeSync™ Premium Pro, and an anti-reflection finish aims to keep glare at bay. Four-sided “borderless” framing caters to multi-monitor setups.
Eye comfort, at least on paper
The 27GX700A carries UL’s “Eyesafe® 3.0,” “Flicker-Free,” “Discomfort Glare-Free,” and “Low Blue Light” certifications. Labels don’t play games for you, but longer sessions may feel easier on the eyes if the hardware matches the paperwork.
LG positions its 4th-gen OLED architecture as a marker of intent in high-performance gaming displays, according to YS Lee, head of the company’s consumer IT products. Rollout starts in South Korea and China, with Hungary availability planned for October.
