Emma Stone Was in Tears Before Shaving Her Head for Bugonia

MOVIE NEWS – At last year’s Golden Globes, Emma Stone wore a wig — because she had shaved her head for her new film Bugonia, live on camera.

In a recent Vogue interview, the actress revealed she cried in her trailer before the scene. She wasn’t emotional about the role — it reminded her of her mother, who lost her hair during chemotherapy. “She fought heroically. I just shaved my head,” Stone explained.

Head-shaving on screen isn’t rare: Natalie Portman did it in V for Vendetta, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in 50/50.

Stone collaborated again with Yorgos Lanthimos, marking their fifth project together. Bugonia is a remake of the acclaimed Korean sci-fi satire Save the Green Planet!, with Stone playing a pharma CEO abducted by two men who believe she’s an alien.

Bugonia – Release date: October 30, 2025.
