At this year’s European event, it was clear which publisher and game stood out from the rest.
Gamescom has its own awards ceremony, voted on by an independent jury. The goal is to recognize outstanding games, accessories, exhibitors, booths, merchandise, announcements, and trailers according to the rules of the show. This year, the clear winner was Capcom and Resident Evil Requiem, which stood in the spotlight and was one of only three games to win multiple awards.
Resident Evil Requiem took home the awards for Best Visual Effects, Best Audio, Most Epic Game, and Best PlayStation Game. The indie title Hela won for Most Entertaining and Most Wholesome Game. Anno 117: Pax Romana won Best PC Game and Best Booth, although the latter technically belongs to Ubisoft. Another notable winner was Hollow Knight: Silksong, which received the Best Trailer award, one of the few voted for by the audience rather than the pre-selected jury.
