Is Dino Crisis Making a Comeback? There Are Signs Pointing to It!

Capcom has been doing things behind the scenes with its currently neglected IP that strongly suggest something is brewing around Dino Crisis.

According to a report by Brazilian outlet Revil, the National Institute of Industrial Property recently registered a new Dino Crisis trademark. The July 3 filing is independent of the original 1999 registration and occurred around the same time as the Resident Evil Requiem filing, suggesting this is unrelated to the newly updated PC releases and points to something else entirely.

Interestingly, the trademark class matches that of Resident Evil Requiem, falling under entertainment and games, which leaves the door open for something new tied to the franchise. It could be a new entry, a remake, or even a remaster—similar to the remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny.

The Brazilian filing isn’t the only sign the long-dormant series may return to the spotlight following the revival of other Capcom IPs (e.g., Onimusha, Okami). In March, Capcom also re-registered the Dino Crisis trademark in Japan. Such moves are typically made not just to protect rights but also when there’s intent to reuse the IP. Given Capcom took a similar step with Onimusha, a comeback in some form is looking increasingly likely.

Dino Crisis already drew attention earlier this year when PC ports of the first two games launched on GOG, with new features like improved DirectX rendering, additional rendering options, V-Sync, gamma correction, integer scaling, anti-aliasing, 4K rendering resolution, 32-bit color depth, improved geometry calculations, smoother animations, enhanced video/music playback, and cloud save support.

The only question is whether Capcom will follow the survival horror style of the first game or the more action-focused gameplay of the second.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
