TECH NEWS – Just days before Apple’s iPhone 17 launch, Huawei grabbed the spotlight with a new flagship foldable.
Following the Mate XT’s success, the expected successor is here: the Mate XTs, Huawei’s second-generation double-folding flagship that inherits much from its predecessor while upgrading the chipset. It sports a 10.2-inch (25.91 cm) LTPO OLED display at 3184×2232, 16:11 aspect ratio, 1,800 nits peak brightness, and a 1–90 Hz adaptive refresh to extend battery life. The panel folds down to 7.9″ or a one-hand 6.4″ mode. Powering it is the Kirin 9020, a modest bump over the Kirin 9010.
Huawei likely hasn’t changed the underlying silicon process: expect the older 7 nm node and the original CPU cluster. The Mate XTs runs HarmonyOS 5, pitched as lighter on resources. Battery capacity remains 5600 mAh with 66 W wired, 50 W wireless, and 7.5 W reverse wireless charging.
Cameras include a single 8 MP selfie unit and a rear trio: 50 MP main, 12 MP ultrawide, and 12 MP telephoto with up to 5.5× lossless zoom. Pricing is steep: 16 GB/256 GB at 18,000 RMB (~$2,520), 512 GB at 20,000 RMB (~$2,800), and 1 TB at 22,000 RMB (~$3,080).
Editorial aside: one might snark about a Huawei “national tax,” given how eagerly the Chinese Communist Party pushes the brand — a pressure that could be reflected in pricing.
