MOVIE NEWS – It has been confirmed that Amazon’s God of War series will begin filming in March 2026 in Vancouver. According to Nexus Point News, casting is already underway, bringing the long-anticipated production one step closer to reality.
Given Ronald D. Moore’s track record as showrunner for For All Mankind, Electric Dreams, and Outlander, it’s no surprise that several of his longtime collaborators have joined him on this project. At San Diego Comic-Con, Moore provided an update on the series in an interview with IGN:
“We’re in the scripts phase. We’re still working on scripts. It’s going very well. We’ve got a good team. It’s been a fascinating thing to sink my teeth into. I’ve never done an adaptation of a video game, and the deeper I got into it, the more impressed I was with the breadth and the depth of the mythology that’s involved in this video game.”
In the same interview, Moore also confirmed that the show will adapt the 2018 God of War video game. The story follows an older Kratos, the former Olympian God of War. Having completed his quest for vengeance against Zeus, Kratos attempts to live a quiet life with his wife and son. After his wife’s death, Kratos embarks on a dangerous journey with his son Atreus to fulfill her last wish: to scatter her ashes from the highest peak of the Nine Realms. Along the way, they encounter figures from Norse mythology, including the Æsir god Baldur.
The God of War series is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, and Santa Monica Studio.
