Uncharted: Is Something Finally Going to Happen with the Franchise?

In a recent interview, Naughty Dog’s head hinted that the studio hasn’t forgotten about the franchise that once defined it before The Last of Us.

Uncharted fans may finally have reason to hope. Nearly ten years have passed since Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End arrived on PlayStation 4 back in 2016, not counting spin-offs or re-releases. That game marked the last time we saw Nathan Drake in a starring role. While many players are excited about The Last of Us and eagerly await Naughty Dog’s next project, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Uncharted enthusiasts have long felt their beloved series has been left behind.

What is certain is that Naughty Dog is focused on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. At best, there are only vague suggestions that The Last of Us Part III could be in development, with nothing official confirmed. Still, a new interview has sparked optimism that Uncharted hasn’t been forgotten. Speaking to Variety, Neil Druckmann addressed the future of The Last of Us, the upcoming sci-fi project, and even mentioned the long-awaited Uncharted.

When Druckmann teased that new content was in the works for The Last of Us—without clarifying if it was tied to a game or the TV series—he also hinted at ongoing talks regarding Uncharted. It remains unclear whether this means a new game or a film adaptation. Either way, the small acknowledgment reassures fans that Uncharted still lingers in Naughty Dog’s plans. Patience will be required to see how this develops in the coming months.

The real question now is when we can expect something tangible for Uncharted. It could still be years away—if not longer.
