Although the Polish team didn’t move the release date up by weeks this time, it’s still a positive change for players.
Techland announced that its open-world action–survival game will now launch a day earlier, on September 18 instead of September 19. While it’s not a huge shift, it’s certainly a welcome one. The studio confirmed that the game will still be available for free to owners of the Dying Light 2: Stay Human Ultimate Edition. Pre-order customers will receive an exclusive bonus item, though details will only be revealed next week. Techland also shared that over 1 million players have already secured their copy through pre-orders.
“Seeing the excitement from our community for the return of Kyle Crane in Dying Light: The Beast and knowing the game is ready, we wanted to do something special for our players. We pushed ourselves to make the impossible possible, and that’s why we’re releasing the game a little earlier. I can’t wait to see players’ reactions when they finally step into the world of The Beast,” said Tymon Smektala, franchise director of Dying Light.
Dying Light: The Beast is a standalone zombie adventure set in the post-apocalyptic Castor Woods, once a thriving tourist destination. The story follows Kyle Crane, who escapes after 13 years of experimentation, seeking vengeance against his captors—only to discover that far more is at stake. Though the region is no longer as populated, there are still factions and survivors trying to hang on, as well as plenty of horrors lurking in the shadows. Some will ask for your help, others will try to kill you, and a mysterious creature has turned the forest into its personal hunting ground.
Known for his selflessness during the initial outbreak, Crane once saved countless lives from a fate worse than death. After more than a decade in captivity, he now faces a world that has changed for the worse. To protect the innocent once again, he must rely on the survival skills that kept him alive years ago. With its natural landmarks, villages, and industrial complexes, Castor Woods offers diverse traversal opportunities—whether using parkour to gain the upper hand or jumping into an abandoned vehicle to escape the horrors of the night.
Dying Light: The Beast launches on September 18 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
