Netflix and HBO Max Share the Emmy Spotlight While Apple TV+ Breaks Its Own Record

MOVIE NEWS – The 77th Emmy Awards showcased another fierce clash among streaming giants. While HBO Max and Netflix tied at the top, Apple TV+ enjoyed its best night ever at the ceremony thanks to the success of The Studio and Severance.

The event reflected the increasingly level playing field: HBO Max consolidated its prestige with series such as The Pitt and The Penguin, while Netflix triumphed with Adolescence, which swept through several major categories. Meanwhile, Apple TV+, despite offering a much smaller catalog, proved a formidable contender by turning nearly every nomination into a win.

Sharing the statuettes

HBO Max entered the gala with 21 Creative Arts Awards and added nine more thanks to acclaimed series like The Pitt and Hacks. Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder collected prizes for their roles in Hacks, while Cristin Milioti scored recognition for The Penguin.

Netflix, which had already bagged 24 awards before the main ceremony, brought home six additional wins largely due to Adolescence. The British hit became Netflix’s flagship of the season, with Owen Cooper, Stephen Graham, and Erin Doherty all winning acting trophies, alongside the award for Best Miniseries. The result left HBO Max and Netflix tied.

Apple TV+, however, was the true breakout of the night. With The Studio and Severance, the platform claimed seven awards during the main ceremony, raising its total to 22—its all-time record. Tramell Tillman and Britt Lower won for acting, while Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg earned accolades for direction and writing.

The contrast with previous years is striking. While HBO and Netflix alternated at the top, Apple TV+ steadily climbed from newcomer to powerhouse. Its strategy of fewer but high-quality productions continues to pay off.

In the end, this year’s Emmys brought few surprises: HBO Max and Netflix remained at the forefront, but Apple TV+ firmly cemented its place on the podium. It’s a clear sign that the streaming wars are being fought not just for viewers but also for awards.
