MOVIE NEWS – A marriage on the verge of collapse, a woman’s unraveling mind, and love’s desperate final gasp form the heart of Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson’s latest film. The new trailer for Die, My Love promises an emotionally raw and deeply human story exploring postpartum depression, creative paralysis, and the slow erosion of intimacy. Drawing from their own experiences as parents, the two stars bring added authenticity and depth to their performances.
Jennifer Lawrence delivers one of her most powerful performances yet in the upcoming psychological thriller, portraying a mother navigating love, longing, and deteriorating mental health. Die, My Love tells the story of Grace (Lawrence) and Jackson (Robert Pattinson), whose marriage begins to unravel following the birth of their child and a move from New York City to a remote small town.
In this isolated rural setting, Grace fights to maintain her sanity as she descends into psychosis. The film explores postpartum depression’s devastating impact on every facet of life, alternating between moments of passion and heated conflict. In one striking scene, Grace confesses: “I’m stuck between wanting to do something and not wanting to do anything at all.”
While postpartum depression is a major theme, director Lynne Ramsay cautioned during a Cannes interview that the film’s scope is far broader. “It’s not about that. It’s about a relationship breaking down — love breaking down — and how sex changes after a baby. It’s also about creative paralysis.”
Parenthood Transformed Lawrence and Pattinson’s Approach to Acting
Both Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson drew from their own experiences as parents to inform their performances. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in May, Lawrence said that having children “changes everything” and described the experience as “brutal and incredible.” The Hunger Games star welcomed her son Cy in February 2022, and three years later, she gave birth to her second child. “I didn’t know I could feel so much. My work is about emotion, and my children have opened up a whole new world for me. They’ve made me more sensitive, changed me for the better, and transformed my creativity. I highly recommend having kids if you want to act.”
Robert Pattinson, who shares a daughter with Suki Waterhouse, added that fatherhood “reinvigorated how I approach my work” and made him feel like a “complete person.” The Twilight actor also praised Ramsay’s directorial style: “I’ve always wanted to work with her. She creates a space on set where I don’t need to label anything as hard or easy — I just trust her to guide me where I need to go.”
The film is based on Ariana Harwicz’s 2012 novel Die, My Love. Over a decade later, Mubi acquired the distribution rights to the film adaptation, which is set to hit theaters on November 14, 2025.
