The Hunt Goes Galactic – Predator: Badlands Promises the Franchise’s Most Dangerous World Yet

MOVIE NEWS – The newest trailer for Predator: Badlands teases a jaw-dropping sci-fi spectacle from director Dan Trachtenberg, filled with colossal robot battles, savage Yautja duels, and terrifying alien beasts. As the November premiere approaches, the franchise is evolving in bold new ways, hinting at deeper ties to the Alien universe. With its high-stakes storyline and brutal action, this may be the deadliest Predator story ever told.

20th Century Studios has dropped the final trailer for Predator: Badlands, showcasing the “most dangerous planet in the universe” — a brutal world crawling with monstrous new lifeforms, including a massive kaiju. The story follows Dek (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi), a young Yautja hunter who teams up with Thia (Elle Fanning), a damaged Weyland-Yutani android, to prove his worth by facing off against increasingly lethal foes. Dek has one chance to redeem himself in the eyes of his people, and it will require conquering the deadliest challenges he’s ever faced.

Dan Trachtenberg — who redefined the franchise with the critically acclaimed Prey — continues to reshape the Predator universe with Badlands. After releasing the highly praised animated anthology Predator: Killer of Killers earlier this year, Trachtenberg now pushes the series forward with deeper lore and stronger ties to the Alien mythology. The official synopsis reads:

“Set in the distant future on a remote planet, Predator: Badlands follows a young, exiled Yautja (Schuster-Koloamatangi) who forges an unlikely alliance with Thia (Fanning) and embarks on a perilous quest to confront the ultimate adversary.”

Elle Fanning Went “Legless” to Pull Off the Film’s Wildest Action Sequences

The film centers on a Predator protagonist, but Elle Fanning plays a key role in the action as well. The actress revealed that she filmed several scenes “legless,” literally attached to Dek’s back during intense stunts — a process that required heavy physical effort from Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi.

“There were some sequences where I couldn’t be on his back, but most of the time we used harnesses. I wore blue leggings, and we used a rig to keep my legs straight out so they wouldn’t interfere with his movements. We were hooked together, flying through the air. For uphill shots, we had wire rigs, and even a wheelbarrow-like setup where he pulled me while we rolled forward. Dimitrius definitely had to do a lot of heavy lifting. The project was nicknamed ‘Backpack’ — and now everyone knows why.”

Predator: Badlands hits theaters this November and promises to deliver the most ambitious, intense, and violent chapter in the iconic sci-fi saga yet.
