One of October’s breakout hits, Absolum, has launched on PC, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch — but Xbox owners were left behind. The small development team says they prioritized other platforms and currently have no plans for a Series X|S release.
Absolum has taken players by surprise, emerging as one of the standout releases of October 2025. Blending classic beat’em up action with roguelite systems and stunning hand-drawn visuals, the game has won over fans and critics alike. Many are calling it “the sleeper hit of the year,” and some even expect it to be nominated at the upcoming The Game Awards 2025.
Absolum Won’t Be Coming to Xbox Series X|S
After its well-received debut on PC, PlayStation, and Switch, many Xbox Series X|S players wondered if a port might follow. The answer came directly from the game’s official Discord server, where a community manager explained that the small team had to focus on platforms that offered quicker returns. “Xbox wasn’t a priority and isn’t in our plans for this title,” they said, later clarifying: “For now, we’re not planning an Xbox version, but who knows what the future holds?” (via Pure Xbox).
While disappointing, this decision isn’t uncommon among smaller studios, who often face the challenge of juggling QA, certification, and platform-specific support costs. Expanding to every system simultaneously is simply not feasible for all developers.
Although the team hasn’t completely ruled out an Xbox version in the future, they’ve made no promises. Absolum was officially released on October 9, 2025, and received glowing reviews — an impressive Metacritic score of 87 and over 90% positive feedback on Steam confirm its strong debut.
