Predator Director Wants an Open-World Game: Dan Trachtenberg Dreams of a “Predator Creed” in the Style of Assassin’s Creed and Uncharted

MOVIE NEWS – After reviving the franchise with Prey and returning with Predator: Badlands, director Dan Trachtenberg says he’s “desperate” to see an open-world video game set in the Predator universe — something inspired by Assassin’s Creed and Uncharted.

With the theatrical release of Predator: Badlands fast approaching, Dan Trachtenberg has been busy promoting his second foray into the world of the intergalactic hunter. Unlike his previous film Prey, this one will premiere on the big screen. But Trachtenberg’s passions extend beyond filmmaking — he’s also an avid gamer, and he believes it’s time for the Predator to return to video games with a large-scale, high-budget adventure inspired by Assassin’s Creed and Uncharted.

In recent years, the Predator franchise has had a limited presence in gaming. While the ‘90s saw the creature featured in various genres — from FPS to brawlers — its last major success came with 2010’s Aliens vs. Predator. Since then, the character has appeared mostly as a guest fighter in games like Call of Duty and Mortal Kombat, with Predator: Hunting Grounds being the last title to place it center stage.

Dan Trachtenberg Wants a Fully Open-World Predator Adventure

In an interview with IGN, Trachtenberg didn’t hide his enthusiasm: “I’m desperate for a Predator game in the style of Uncharted or Assassin’s Creed, with that kind of open world,” he said. “I missed out on Concrete Jungle when it came out, but I think there’s massive potential for something like that. I really hope it happens someday.”

The mention of Concrete Jungle is significant — the 2005 PlayStation 2 and Xbox game developed by Eurocom starred a disgraced Predator seeking redemption by hunting humans. While its reviews were mixed at the time, it has since become a cult favorite among fans, making Trachtenberg’s desire for a modern version understandable.

Known for infusing his films with gaming influences, Trachtenberg has cited Shadow of the Colossus as a major inspiration for Predator: Badlands, while the laser weapon wielded by protagonist Dek was inspired by World of Warcraft. As fans await a modern open-world adaptation, Predator: Badlands will return to theaters on November 7, 2025, as a direct sequel to Prey.
