A poorly timed job posting has revealed Riot Games’ next big project: a brand-new FPS set in the Valorant universe, confirming the studio’s plans to expand beyond its existing hits.
According to Riot Games’ official recruitment page, the company is currently developing a new first-person shooter that appears to take place in the Valorant universe. The leak stems from a job listing for an “unreleased” project still in its research and development phase. The posting sought applicants experienced with the FPS genre and familiar with the studio’s 2020 tactical shooter. This all but confirms that, alongside its in-development League of Legends MMO, Riot is working on another major shooter to expand its catalog.
Riot’s Worst-Kept Secret
The job listing, tied to Riot’s Los Angeles office, quickly went viral after The Game Post discovered that it included phrases like “experience creating characters for FPS games” and “familiarity with the Valorant universe.” These details were dead giveaways about the project’s nature—so much so that Riot quietly deleted them shortly after the news broke.
This attempt at damage control did little to hide the truth. Since 2023, several similar job postings have surfaced, all hinting at a new Riot-developed shooter—possibly with MMO elements. Each time, the listings have been edited or removed to erase references to the project. But after years of repetition, it’s hard to believe these slip-ups are accidental.
Among Riot’s ventures, Valorant remains its biggest non-MOBA success. The tactical shooter has established itself as a strong alternative to Counter-Strike. While it hasn’t reached the cultural impact of League of Legends, it has allowed Riot to diversify its portfolio. It’s no surprise, then, that the studio aims to capitalize further on the Valorant IP with this mysterious new FPS.
