Netflix Moves Fast: The Splinter Cell Anime Nabs Season 2 While the Game’s Comeback Still Has No Date

MOVIE NEWS – While Ubisoft keeps quiet about Splinter Cell’s future, Netflix is seizing the moment: just days after its animated debut, Splinter Cell: Deathwatch has already been renewed for a second season, and early hints about the next chapters are out. In short, Netflix is extending Splinter Cell: Deathwatch even as the franchise’s in-game return remains undated.

Sam Fisher is donning those iconic goggles again—just not in a brand-new game. Longtime fans aren’t thrilled with how Ubisoft communicates its road map, and although the Splinter Cell remake is in development, the only thing players can actually watch right now is Netflix’s newly released animated series, Splinter Cell: Deathwatch. If you checked it out and liked it, here’s the good news: more is coming.

According to an IGN exclusive, Netflix has greenlit Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Deathwatch for Season 2. Liev Schreiber returns as the voice of Sam Fisher, with Kirby Howell-Baptiste back as Zinnia McKenna. Director Guillaume Dousse, alongside co-director Félicien Colmet-Daage, will double down on the same sleek blend of espionage and action for the upcoming run. There’s no premiere date yet.

Plenty of details are still under wraps, but the official synopsis keeps Fisher out of retirement to help a younger operative. It’s also worth remembering that certain storylines were tweaked at Ubisoft’s request, as the company has “other plans” for the brand. Whatever those ideas are, Netflix is clearly filling the gap that’s been there since 2013’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

Strategically, this renewal keeps the Splinter Cell conversation alive while the remake continues to simmer. A second season of Deathwatch sustains mainstream interest and could even serve as an on-ramp for new audiences by the time the remake finally launches. And if you want a taste of how Season 1 landed, our colleague Chema Mansilla has a full review of Splinter Cell: Deathwatch.
