“Feudal Japan, in the palm of your hand.” It was an open secret, but it’s finally official: Assassin’s Creed Shadows is coming to Switch 2 on December 2, complete with a trailer and a locked-in release date.
We already knew that Ubisoft was working on a version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows for Nintendo Switch 2. The French developer was supposed to keep this information to itself, but a leak revealed its plans to bring the Japanese-set proposal to Nintendo’s new hybrid console. Obviously, the parents of Far Cry have remained silent and have not echoed the news and publications related to their strategy, but now they have confirmed what was already an open secret by presenting a trailer and a release date for this edition.
“Feudal Japan, in the palm of your hand.” With these words, Ubisoft highlights the possibility of taking Naoe and Yasuke’s adventure anywhere thanks to the portability of the Nintendo Switch 2. As seen in the trailer just above, the new version will be available from December 2 and will enjoy other features such as cross-progression, access to the The Claws of Awaji DLC, and full touch-screen support across all menus, including the world map, the store, and the base.
“Enter the stunning world of feudal Japan! Unleash your inner Assassin as Naoe, a stealthy and cunning shinobi, and strike from the shadows. Or take command as Yasuke, a towering samurai, and dominate the battlefield,” the trailer’s YouTube description reads. As far as features outside of the experience itself are concerned, it’s worth noting that it will be priced at $59.99 and will come in physical form as a Game-Key Card.
Ubisoft Details Upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows Updates
Leaving aside the Nintendo Switch 2 version and its features, Ubisoft has also taken advantage of this announcement to emphasize that its work on Assassin’s Creed Shadows is not over. In this sense, the developers are preparing two updates for the coming weeks, which will arrive on October 28 and November 25. The first will be a patch dedicated to implementing parkour improvements and an advanced feature for those who enjoy traveling around Japan with this movement style; ideas that are complemented by an activity called Corrupted Castles that will offer additional challenges and rewards. The second will introduce a new story mission with a more comedic twist, an extra collaboration, and free content to liven up the holiday season.
