The hot new shooter is echoing Destiny’s 11-year-old vow — and we all remember how that ended. Embark Studios says ARC Raiders’ “10-year” ambitions will live or die based solely on player support.
Embark Studios is putting the final touches on ARC Raiders, its next big release. After multiple early tests and a friendly arms race with Marathon, the PvPvE shooter from the The Finals team lands on consoles and PC on October 30. One key parallel with Bungie remains: this isn’t about short-term hype, but about laying a durable foundation for at least a decade-long project.
On a TwitchCon stream, design director Virgil Watkins said the studio has always viewed ARC Raiders as a “ten-year game,” an ambition that shapes the cadence and volume of content over time. He stressed they’ll listen to the community before locking a rigid roadmap, making it clear the game’s evolution hinges on player feedback after launch.
“10 Years Of Content” Will Be Community-Driven
Embark won’t disclose specific post-launch beats yet, since plans can change quickly and overpromising breeds disappointment. Still, the team confirms a pipeline of new maps, enemies, weapons, and expanded questlines to keep things fresh.
Extra content is slated for the first weeks after release, but beyond that, direction depends on the initial reception. Embark plans to observe player behavior, interests, and how the mechanics feel in the wild before committing to longer-term decisions.
And yes, the decade promise isn’t new: Destiny launched with the same pitch — then Destiny 2 arrived three years later. Embark believes the studio’s The Finals experience and lessons from others’ stumbles can help build something more durable, coherent, and sustainable.
