Cyberpunk Creator Teases a Way to Bring Johnny Silverhand Back in the Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel

Mike Pondsmith, creator of the Cyberpunk tabletop RPG, says he has multiple ways to bring Johnny Silverhand back. He suggests Keanu Reeves’ character could return in the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 and praises the actor’s total commitment to the role.

Cyberpunk 2077 has become gaming’s great redemption story, rising from a rocky launch to rank among Steam’s top global sellers five years later.

The RPG has powered CD Projekt Red’s results, accounting for nearly 60% of revenue. Unsurprisingly, a sequel is in pre-production—and if the franchise’s creator is right, one of its most beloved figures may reappear.

“I saw that Keanu would like to find a way to play Johnny again. I have ways to do that.”

Speaking on CD Projekt Red’s October 30 stream, Pondsmith added that Reeves fully immersed himself in Silverhand; if more stars join the sequel, they should bring the same professionalism.

Even so, Reeves has signaled he’d return— and in Night City, anything can happen. The sequel is still years away, with earliest projections around 2029, while the studio is also developing The Witcher 4.

Meanwhile, Cyberpunk 2077 continues to receive updates, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is gearing up for a darker Season 2—plenty for fans to look forward to.
