Samsung Galaxy S26: Will It Be Thinner than Its Predecessor?

TECH NEWS – Rumor has it that 2026 smartphones will be visibly thinner than their predecessors.

With the Samsung Galaxy S26 lineup only about three months from its official debut, chatter around the new series is accelerating, and the latest buzz centers on thickness. According to Ice Universe, a well-known leaker, the Galaxy S26 will measure 6.9 mm thick versus 7.2 mm for this year’s S25. In other words, the base Galaxy S26 would be roughly 4% thinner than its predecessor.

The slimmer profile will likely have implications for battery capacity as well. The base S25 packed a 4,000-mAh cell. The sketch also shows a vertical camera island, a design detail absent from the past three generations. Another leaker, Jukan, says Samsung is gearing up for the next Galaxy Unpacked on February 25, where the company is expected to unveil the S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra with a strong AI focus.

After roughly three years, Samsung could bring Galaxy Unpacked back to San Francisco, a venue it last used in 2023 for the Galaxy S23 reveal. The S26 Ultra’s corners are said to be more rounded, giving the flagship a softer silhouette and suggesting a deliberate shift away from the angular Note-era styling.

Meanwhile, South Korean outlet MK reports Samsung has set a 35-million-unit sales target for the S26 family, aiming to move 24 million units in H1 2026, up from an estimated 22 million S25 units sold in H1 2025. Two big questions remain: which chipsets will power the 2026 models, and how much will they cost?
