The Witcher IV: Definitely Not Going to Be at The Game Awards!

CD Projekt RED (CDPR) has officially confirmed that its game will not be at the last major video game event of 2025.

Be patient and throw a coin to the Witcher, because The Witcher IV will not appear at The Game Awards next month. The highly anticipated RPG developed by CDPR will skip this year’s awards ceremony and will likely only appear when the award for most anticipated game is announced. CDPR co-president Michał Nowakowski announced the news directly on Twitter, expressing his gratitude that The Witcher IV had been nominated in the category while also managing players’ expectations.

While this may disappoint players eagerly awaiting the next installment of CDPR’s popular franchise, it should come as no surprise. Those who have been following the development of The Witcher IV may have heard that the company confirmed in March that the game will not be released until 2027. We’ll have to wait another year to see new trailers and learn the release date. Nowakowski confirmed this in the Q&A section of CDPR’s latest third-quarter financial report. When asked about The Witcher IV, he did not want to discuss the game’s development except to say that it would not be released in 2026.

Since The Witcher IV won’t be released this year, fans eager to return to the world of The Witcher should keep an eye on The Game Awards 2026. There’s a good chance CDPR will attend with a major trailer. Several developers have already confirmed their participation in The Game Awards and revealed that they are preparing new trailers. Exodus, for example, will have a new trailer there, and we’ve already written about it.
