37 Free PC And Xbox Games You Can Try Right Now – But Only For A Few Days!

Microsoft is closing out the year with a fast-paced promotion: through the Indie Selects Demo Fest, players can download and try 37 different indie games for free on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and supported handhelds until December 31. The catch is that the event only runs for a short time, so you will have to choose quickly what to play during the holiday break.

December is not just about Christmas lights and New Year’s Eve; it is also prime time for gaming initiatives. On the Xbox side, Microsoft has launched the Indie Selects Demo Fest, an event entirely focused on independent projects whose demos are temporarily available to everyone over the final days of 2025.

As detailed on Xbox Wire, players can access demos for 37 different titles from now until December 31. That means PC users, Xbox Series X|S owners, and handheld players on devices like the ROG Ally can all spend part of their winter holidays sampling a wide range of experiences, from management and action games to horror and more.

Below you will find the full lineup for the Indie Selects Demo Fest, along with links to the Xbox Store so you can read more about each game. Keep in mind that many of these titles are still some distance from launch, so the demos may contain bugs or unfinished content that will be polished later in development.

2026 Will Showcase The Future Of The Xbox Ecosystem

Beyond this wave of demos, Microsoft is already looking ahead to next year. The company has said that 2026 will be a pivotal year for the Xbox brand, not only because it marks the platform’s 25th anniversary, but also because the Redmond team plans to show what it calls “the future of the Xbox ecosystem”.

We already know that work is underway on the next Xbox console, which is expected to continue the strategy of unifying user libraries and to deliver a very premium and high-end experience. All of this gives Xbox fans plenty of reasons to pay close attention to what the company announces over the coming months.
