Analysts Pick The Best Looking Games Of 2025, And Some Big Names Are Missing [VIDEO]

Every year, it feels like video game graphics have reached their peak, only for a new wave of releases to prove that assumption wrong. A new expert breakdown highlights two titles that clearly stand above the rest in 2025, while a few highly anticipated games did not even earn an honorable mention.

Digital Foundry has released an in-depth analysis ranking the best-looking games released in 2025. While the list features ten titles in total, only the top three are ranked in order, with the remaining games grouped without specific placement.

According to the analysts, visual fidelity remains a key factor in player immersion, especially as modern technology pushes realism and performance expectations higher than ever. Leading the pack are Doom: The Dark Ages and Assassin’s Creed Shadows, with Death Stranding 2 securing the third spot.

Doom: The Dark Ages stands out thanks to its use of the new idTech engine, delivering not only impressive visuals but also notably solid optimization. Some argue that Death Stranding 2 could have claimed the top position, but Digital Foundry ultimately gave the edge to Doom and Assassin’s Creed due to their additional technical features.

The rest of the top 10 list, presented without ranking order, includes Ghost of Yotei, Dying Light: The Beast, Metroid Prime 4, Mafia: The Old Country, Silent Hill f, Earthion, and Rotuine. Each of these titles was highlighted for its striking visual design and overall graphical quality.

Perhaps the most surprising aspect of the list is what did not make it. Despite winning Best Art Direction at The Game Awards, Expedition 33 failed to appear, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 also missed out entirely, with neither receiving even an honorable mention.
