Apple M5: Significantly Better Gaming Performance than Its Predecessor! [VIDEO]

TEC NEWS – Apple’s M5 manages to post a clear gaming uplift without adding CPU or GPU cores on paper, and the latest Where Winds Meet footage shows exactly how that translates to real-world performance.

Although the M5 has the same number of CPU and GPU cores as the M4, we can enjoy better computing and graphics performance without an increase in cores. The chipset has proven itself to be a real powerhouse in Cyberpunk 2077, achieving a 190%-higher frame rate than the M4 in a benchmark comparison with ray-tracing enabled. The latest and greatest iPad Pro runs the game at a stable 60 FPS with all graphics settings set to maximum in Everstone Studio’s latest open-world action-RPG, Where Winds Meet.

The game was tested on an M5 iPad Pro with a 9-core CPU and 10-core GPU. The video below showcases the flagship tablet’s capabilities, demonstrating its ability to run Where Winds Meet at 60 FPS without any frame-rate drops. Given that the M5 is Apple’s fastest system-on-a-chip (SoC) found in any of its tablets, an extremely smooth frame rate was to be expected. However, the new iPad Pro stands out from the A19 Pro and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 because M5 models can be set to Ultra visual settings while running the game at a higher resolution.

In an initial graphics and resolution comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro Max and the Redmagic 11 Pro were both limited to the Extremely High visual setting, one level below Ultra. When viewing gameplay, we observed no stuttering on the M5 iPad Pro, which achieved a low score that was 1% better than that of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This was to be expected, as the larger tablet has more room for cooling, enabling the M5 to utilize its full performance potential.

This proves that the new technology is a significant advance noticeable to the untrained eye.
