Is Resident Evil’s Planned Schedule Slipping but Returning to Norm?

This could impact the upcoming remake—or rather, remakes!—which has not yet been announced but has been rumored many times.

According to a recent rumor, the release date for the new Resident Evil games may be sooner than expected. A reliable insider claims that Capcom changed its strategy after a long development hiatus and now aims to release new Resident Evil titles every year. This approach would be a significant change for the franchise, resulting in more consistent releases after the February release of Resident Evil Requiem on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. This release follows an unusually long hiatus after Resident Evil 4 Remake. Fans waited nearly three years for the next main installment, but reports indicate that the delay was not part of Capcom’s original plan.

This new strategy suggests that the publisher wants to maintain momentum and keep the series consistently active across multiple platforms. If true, release dates for new Resident Evil games could become predictable, giving fans an annual release instead of long development breaks. According to Dusk Golem, a well-known insider, Capcom is already planning releases beyond 2026.

Capcom is reportedly planning to release the highly anticipated Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake in 2027. This source has made accurate predictions before, such as the release of Resident Evil: Requiem and the return of Leon S. Kennedy, lending credibility to these claims. A remake of Resident Evil Zero is also rumored to be released in 2028, further suggesting that Capcom is committed to restoring its annual release cycle of new games and modernized remakes. Dusk Golem confirmed that the delay between the releases of Resident Evil 4 Remake and Resident Evil Requiem was due to unforeseen development issues. These challenges reportedly forced Capcom to postpone its original schedule, resulting in a longer wait. However, following the release of Requiem, Capcom appears ready to return the franchise to a consistent release schedule.

If these leaks are accurate, the future of the Resident Evil franchise looks more structured than ever.
