[TGA 2025] Gang of Dragon: Toshihiro Nagoshi Strikes Again! [VIDEO]

The Japanese developer’s new game is very similar to the intellectual property (IP) he was associated with for two decades. However, he has since moved on to work elsewhere under a different publisher.

Toshihiro Nagoshi, the creator of Yakuza, left SEGA in 2021 after 32 years. A year later, in 2022, he announced his new studio, Nagoshi Studio, under China’s NetEase. At The Game Awards, Nagoshi Studio unveiled its inaugural project, Gang of Dragon. This new action-adventure game shows that Nagoshi kept his 2022 promise to gamers that he wouldn’t make mobile games just because he signed with NetEase. NetEase is known for its success in mobile and live service titles.

Gang of Dragon‘s cinematic trailer exudes a vibe similar to the Yakuza series without strictly adhering to the pillars that characterize those games. Set in Kabukicho, Shinjuku, Tokyo’s nightlife hub, the game stars South Korean actor Ma Dong-seok (also known as Don Lee) as Shin Ji-seong, a high-ranking member of a Korean crime syndicate. Lee was recently seen in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach as Samson Hook.

“I’m both relieved and deeply focused as we finally reach the day to unveil Gang of Dragon. This project depicts the lives of outlaws who inhabit the real streets of Kabukicho with unwavering honesty. Through gameplay, my team and I are committed to delivering a powerful new human drama born from this world. The teaser only hints at what Gang of Dragon truly has in store, and we look forward to sharing much more with you in the future,” wrote Nagoshi in the press release.

Currently, there is no information on the expected release date or platforms other than PC for Gang of Dragon. The game is reportedly in an advanced stage of development. Now that it has been unveiled, it is possible that we will see it at events in 2026, with a release in 2027. However, this is just speculation. Might it be coming to next-gen consoles?
