Hamnet has become one of the biggest surprises of the awards season with six Golden Globe nominations. The film is nominated for Best Drama, Best Actress (Jessie Buckley), Best Supporting Actor (Paul Mescal), Best Director (Chloé Zhao), Best Screenplay, and Best Original Score (Max Richter). The Golden Globes are awarded by foreign journalists accredited in Hollywood.

Hamnet is a historical drama written by Chloé Zhao and Maggie O’Farrell, adapted from O’Farrell’s internationally acclaimed novel. The film depicts a tragic turning point in the lives of William Shakespeare and his wife Agnes following the death of their young son. The parents process their grief in very different ways.

According to critics, Hamnet stands out as one of the strongest films of the season and could also be a serious Oscar contender.
