It’s Worth Clearing Up a Misunderstanding About Spielberg’s New Film

MOVIE NEWS – For a long time, all that was known was that Spielberg’s new film would arrive in the summer, sparking intense debate.

For a long time, all that was known was that Spielberg’s new film would arrive in the summer and represent another major work from the director. His recent films – The Fabelmans, West Side Story, and Ready Player One – were all high-quality productions, but not the kind that fuel months of heated discussion among friends and family. Disclosure Day, however, is likely to be different. Once the trailer was released, fierce debates erupted online immediately.

In the trailer, Emily Blunt plays a television meteorologist who begins to “speak” strangely on live broadcast, clicking and chattering as if using the language of an alien civilization. From there, it becomes clear that this may indeed be the case. Online discussion quickly labeled Spielberg’s new project a “UFO movie”, though others were quick to call for correction.

Spielberg has previously portrayed encounters between humans and the unknown in films such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and War of the Worlds, but none of them were truly UFO movies. These films are about people: how they confront the unknown, overcome fear and paranoia, and learn acceptance.

That said, alien spacecraft may still appear in Disclosure Day, but the story will ultimately focus on what happens to the seven billion people mentioned in the trailer.
