According to the latest rumors, classic games developed by Obsidian Entertainment and Bethesda Game Studios could be heading for modernized releases.
After Bethesda Game Studios remastered The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion using Unreal Engine 5 and released it as The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, Windows Central contributor Jez Corden stated that Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas may receive similar treatment. This is not the first time such rumors have surfaced. In fact, this marks the second instance in recent months where Windows Central has reported that remasters or remakes comparable to Oblivion Remastered are in development for the two most popular Fallout titles.
Windows Central is not alone in making these claims. Other media outlets have also suggested that remastered or remake versions are currently in development. Considering the massive success of Amazon’s Fallout TV series and the strong commercial performance of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered—which ranked among the 12 best-selling games on Steam in 2025 by revenue—it seems increasingly likely that Bethesda will eventually confirm the rumors with an official announcement.
Corden also noted that some fans have speculated whether the mysterious countdown displayed on the Amazon Prime Fallout series website could be hinting at the release of a new Fallout game or remaster. He was reportedly told that this is not the case, but that Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas remakes are indeed planned, following a similar approach to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.
Although there is currently no clear timeline regarding when these remasters or remakes might be announced or released, all signs suggest that they are on the way. It is possible that official news will not arrive until June, as Microsoft typically schedules major announcements around that time, but for now, fans will have to wait and see.
