Capcom‘s game will keep expanding, and the rumors around it are proving right once again…
Resident Evil Requiem is set to receive more content soon, including an as-yet-unspecified surprise arriving in May that sounds a lot like the series’ classic Mercenaries mode – something director Koshi Nakanishi confirmed in a new video message. But that’s not all: rumors have also been pointing to a story expansion in the works, and Nakanishi addressed that as well, while commenting on the game’s current state and thanking players for their support.
“We released an update the other day to fix a variety of issues, and we will continue to address any other bugs and performance issues. But that’s not all. We are also planning to add more content. First is the long-awaited photo mode. On top of that, another surprise is coming in May. We’re planning to add a minigame. We hope to continue providing support for Resident Evil Requiem and live up to its positive reception. We are planning to create additional story content. This content will delve deeper into the world of Requiem. We’re hard at work on it now. It will take some time, so we ask for your patience and hope you’ll look forward to it,” said Nakanishi.
While Resident Evil Requiem is already a strong experience with excellent replay value, it currently only offers the main campaign in terms of modes – so any additional mode, or “minigame” as Nakanishi put it, would be a very welcome addition. Mercenaries would fit especially well, since Leon’s combat mechanics are deep and among the series’ best since Resident Evil 4 Remake. At the same time, it would be genuinely interesting to see how Grace would handle a more intense, combat-focused mode with her more limited toolkit.
Given how polished the main story is, it’s hard to doubt the team can deliver a compelling side experience that fans will want to dig into. The big question is: who will be playable in that mode?
