Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2: Appreciating the Norms of the Past!

Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment are going old school with this game, and unfortunately not many people do that these days…

The game is only a few days away from release, and to keep everyone well informed about Warhammer 40,000 (or 40K:) Space Marine 2, a Q&A has been released. In it, they confirmed that the third-person, hack-and-slash game will not use Denuvo DRM. So it will have lower system requirements, more stable performance, and won’t have to “phone home” either. This will not stop the game from showing up on GOG, so you can still grab the files you need to install it, then save them to an external drive or SSD if you want to keep it on your PC.

Don’t expect any microtransactions either, but there will be the option to pay extra for the game beyond the price of the game, as cosmetic DLCs will be included, but these will be optional and there will be no pay-to-win mechanism. All in-game content and features will be free to all players. To combat cheating, Saber Interactive’s game will use EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat).

There are currently no plans to use ray tracing. At launch there will be Nvidia DLSS 2 and AMD FSR 2 upscaling technologies, and a trio of both will come sometime this year. Ultra-wide and even wider monitors will not be supported at launch. The last time this was an issue in a previous Warhammer 40K game, a patch was released to fix this.

It won’t be on Xbox Game Pass, but it will be on Nvidia GeForce Now. The latter will have fully functional cross-platform saves and offline progression, but operations mode will require a stable internet connection. There will also be no friendly fire in any mode. However, there will be dedicated PvP servers in the North American, European and Latin American regions. There will be no LAN support for either PvE or PvP.

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 will be released on September 9th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC.
