Johnny Depp’s New Movie Is Coming – Not the Only Good News for the Legendary Actor!

MOVIE NEWS – Johnny Depp’s second directorial is almost ready, and despite the adverse reactions, his career is being recognized…

The actor and director Johnny Depp, who has already been recognized many times by critics, will receive another recognition of his career at the Rome Film Festival in October, where, after the premiere in San Sebastián, the upcoming biopic Modi – Three Days on the Wing of Madness will also be shown. The film is Depp’s first directorial outing since 1997. It is also a significant milestone in the returning career of the actor-director, after the defamation lawsuit brought by Depp’s ex-wife, actress Amber Heard, due to accusations of domestic violence took place in public in 2022.

According to Deadline, Depp will be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the festival in October in recognition of his long-term contributions to the entertainment industry.

Depp’s latest film, Modi – Three Days on the Wing of Madness, will also be screened at the ceremony. It follows the legendary painter and sculptor Amedeo Modigliani’s 72 hours on the streets of war-torn Paris in 1916.

The film was made with a star cast: Italian actor Riccardo Scamarcio plays Modigliani, Al Pacino plays the international art collector Maurice Gangnat, and Antonia Desplat, an artist friend. It is expected to be released to the public sometime after the festival.

Modi is only Depp’s second directorial venture and the first to receive such a positive reception. His first effort, The Brave, was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 but failed to impress both critics and audiences. This underwhelming reception probably kept Depp from trying to direct again for many years. But after his highly controversial court battle two years ago, the actor seems to be starting over and broadening his horizons.

Johnny Depp’s controversial career – and life

Not everyone seems to agree with Johnny Depp’s Lifetime Achievement Award reception. Although Depp has been a beloved actor for many generations, from his early days on 21 Jump Street to his stint in the family-friendly Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, he has recently come under fire for his legal battles with ex-wife Amber Heard.

Heard previously accused Depp of domestic violence and abuse. As a result, he received two million dollars in damages, to which Depp responded with accusations of defamation and defamation. The ensuing trial was public and messy, and while Depp ultimately emerged victorious, many still feel he was unfairly acquitted.

During the Depp-Heard lawsuit, many of Depp’s supporters believed that Heard’s abuse allegations would ruin his career – a common talking point in situations involving alleged misconduct by – typically male – celebrities. However, Depp’s upcoming appearance at the Rome Film Festival, his Lifetime Achievement Award and the success of his second directorial debut all indicate that his career is slowly recovering.
