Capcom Teases More Deluxe Remasters on the Horizon

The Japanese publisher wants to make the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster more than just a one-off, as it has already outlined the options available to the public in a survey.

The survey appeared at the same time as the release of the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. The remaster includes modern graphics, improved character models, more languages supported, redesigned controls and quality of life features (e.g. auto-save), although we still think that Frank’s model looks weird: whenever we look at it closely, we can only see it as a cheap copy of Leisure Suit Larry…

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is a remastered version of the original RE engine released in 2006, which Capcom essentially treats as a remake, and the Japanese publisher is trying to replicate the same formula in several other IPs, as the Japanese company refers to it in the survey. If the player doesn’t want a deluxe remaster (which Capcom defines as a more playable remaster with better graphics and new 3D models), then the question is whether they would choose a remake or a deluxe remaster, or perhaps a simple remaster with a higher resolution to match current hardware.

The options? Lost Planet, Devil May Cry, Power Stone, Resident Evil, Onimusha, Darkstalkers and Okami. Then Capcom asks if the player would like to see more Dead Rising games, and if so, in what format (deluxe remaster, remake, or a new episode). Capcom also asks about pricing, and here we mention that the Japanese company will charge 50€ for the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, and if you want the Digital Deluxe version, you’ll have to pay 60€.

So Capcom has some ideas, but the question is what will come out of it all in the end. In any case, the survey has revealed the company’s plans, and now it’s just a matter of what the public wants. Vox populi, vox dei…
