The Last of Us Part II Remastered Will Shine on PlayStation 5 Pro! [VIDEO]

Naughty Dog’s game will also provide a good demonstration of what the artificial intelligence-powered PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaler will be capable of.

Digital Foundry’s video embedded below is based on the footage available so far, and their analysis suggests that The Last of Us remaster will be capable of 4K resolution and a 60fps frame rate on the more powerful PlayStation 5. On the base PlayStation 5, it’s significantly nicer than Performance mode, as PSSR improves texture detail and the image is less blurry and aliased (especially on foliage). The difference between the two consoles is also massive in terms of geometric edges, and the performance is almost always 60 FPS, except in a few situations.

The PSSR is also much more stable than the widely used AMD FSR. Since Naughty Dog’s game hasn’t been released on PC yet, there’s no way to make a direct comparison, but it’s almost certain that the PSSR still lags behind the Nvidia DLSS. And the remaster didn’t really need any development, while Final Fantasy VII Rebirth does, and it will be a huge technological leap…

Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred (and the base game) is one of the games that will support the PlayStation 5 Pro. This was confirmed by franchise head Rod Ferguson on Twitter. No further details were given, so Blizzard will probably have all the details later this month. It will be a bit ironic that Blizzard’s game, which is owned by Microsoft, will look its best on a competing platform (let’s not include PC, which will be a natural on high-end configurations due to its more modern hardware…).

The PlayStation 5 Pro will be released on November 7th. It will be available here for $700/€800. Those who want a vertical stand or a Blu-ray drive should expect to pay extra.
