Not Just Anyone Argues for the Higher PS5 Pro Price – Can We Really Expect Better Games?!

According to Sonic Team producer Takashi Iizuka, the price of PS5 Pro is justified, but the team will not leave existing consoles behind either…

The unveiling of the PS5 Pro has generated a lot of controversy among gamers. In addition to its technical features – including a faster GPU, advanced Ray Tracing and a resizing system called PSSR – users criticized the high price of 799.99 euros. So, what do industry experts say about the new PlayStation 5 model? Sonic Team producer Takashi Iizuka is very pleased with what Sony has announced.

IGN spoke with Iizuka and Monster Hunter series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto at the Tokyo Game Show 2024 to get their thoughts on the PlayStation 5 Pro’s specs and price. The boss of Sonic Team is delighted with the specifications of the device: “As a market, we have the high-end machines, high-end consoles. Coming out with those consoles, we feel that we can make newer Sonic games that can express the speed of Sonic and with much better gaming UI as well.”

This does not mean SEGA wants to focus exclusively on the PS5 Pro when making its next titles.

“However, we want to support the lower spec constants as well. So even though the PS5 Pro is coming out, or new innovations or technology are coming out, we feel that it is important to support with the lower spec consoles and let many of the users keep playing Sonic.” Regarding the price of the device, Iizuka said: “I feel that with the quality that they are providing it’s not that expensive… And yeah, it would be really good for the high-end game users.”

PlayStation has revealed the first 55 games that will carry the “PS5 Pro Enhanced” label

PlayStation has announced the creation of the “PS5 Pro Enhanced” label, which designates games that take advantage of the new PlayStation 5 Pro’s performance from day one through graphical enhancements. Sony has already announced the first 55 titles that will carry this label in the PS Store; this list does not yet include Sonic games. Nevertheless, it is expected that the selection will expand over time, which may even lead to the integration of hedgehog games.
