Silent Hill 2 Remake: Be Careful with Brookhaven Hospital!

Bloober Team’s game, released almost two weeks ago, has a bug that can get you stuck, and it’s not very practical…

There is a small soft lock glitch in the game. What this means is that there is a bug that causes the game to become unfinishable, but it doesn’t crash (that would be a hard lock glitch). This causes you to have to restore a previous save. The glitch occurs right at the end of Brookhaven Hospital and was reported in detail by Eurogamer.

As soon as you enter the third floor of the hospital, you get a short scene. We look out of a small “window”. When we return here, we have to save manually before going up to the roof. Then, as soon as we go through the door (which we just looked through), use an autosave, but don’t interact with the previously used crack on the other side, and move on instead. There is a good reason for this…

If the “gap” is also used from the other side, the game will teleport you to the other side of the door, preventing you from exploring the area you just opened. This will cause us to get stuck, resulting in a soft lock. If we accidentally look at it, we can restore the auto-save. However, not everyone can do this (regardless of whether they’re playing on PlayStation 5 or PC), so we have to resort to manual save, so we don’t lose much and avoid the embarrassment.

So the Silent Hill 2 Remake isn’t perfect either, because it’s a very interesting scenario. It also shows that the Bloober team may not have been fully prepared for all scenarios in the game, as this bug remains in the game, which will not be released for the Xbox Series until October 8, 2025 at the earliest, as Sony and Konami have signed a one-year timed exclusivity deal.

The only sales figures we’ve heard so far for Silent Hill 2 Remake are that the survival horror game, released on October 8, has already sold at least 1 million copies.
