Liegecraft: The New Strategy Game that Combines Civilization, Crusader Kings, and Heroes of Might & Magic

Former CD Projekt RED team’s new project combines the best of Civilization, Crusader Kings, and Heroes of Might & Magic, inviting players to build and expand a prosperous medieval kingdom in Liegecraft. In development for two years, it’s set to debut on Steam Early Access.

A few days ago, a new 4X strategy game for Steam was announced, and depending on the visuals, it evokes comparisons to Civilization, Crusader Kings, and even the legendary Heroes of Might & Magic 3. And there’s good reason for this—Liegecraft, by Polish indie team From Chaos, draws on all these classics to create an enriched gameplay experience.

Specifically, Liegecraft combines Civilization‘s “just one more turn” addictiveness with the character-focused diplomacy and governance seen in Crusader Kings 3. In essence, Liegecraft is a turn-based medieval strategy RPG where players take on the role of a medieval monarch tasked with expanding a kingdom with the help of loyal vassals—as long as they can keep them content.

Strategy, RPG, and Character-Driven Engagement

Liegecraft promises a medieval sandbox experience where players navigate the challenges and triumphs of their realm through the eyes of a ruler and his vassals, each with unique traits that shape their behavior and interactions. The challenge lies in maintaining balance—allocating lands, titles, and wealth to some, banishing others, all while ensuring disputes don’t spiral into ruinous bloodshed.

Beyond managing vassals, players will grow their kingdom through technological advances across various eras, diplomacy, and conquest with vast armies in epic battles. “Saddle up, gallop through royal forests, plot secret alliances during hunts, host grand feasts in opulent castles, imprison traitors, and more as you solidify your reign,” adds From Chaos on Steam.

Liegecraft also invites players to immersive real-time events—from extravagant feasts and tavern brawls to royal hunts and dungeon crawls—making this a multifaceted strategy game that’s hard to describe without seeing it firsthand. Fortunately, Liegecraft will be available for early access on PC in 2025.
