Warcraft II Remastered: Details of Blizzard’s Major Plans Revealed!

Although an official announcement isn’t expected until next week, we’ve already learned what Blizzard is planning to celebrate Warcraft’s 30th birthday with.

On Twitter, it was revealed that the announcement of a Warcraft II remaster is just days away. You could say that this should be taken with a grain of salt, but since Stiven_SRB is always data mining Blizzard games as a hobby, a lot of people are relying on what he has to say. Recently, it was leaked that Warcraft III: Reforged, or the remaster of the third installment, is getting a huge update, as this remaster originally divided the audience, not to mention that Blizzard basically forgot about it after its release.

Warcraft’s birthday is approaching. On November 15th, it will be 30 years old (November 15, 1994 was the release date of Warcraft: Orcs & Humans), and on the 13th, it will be celebrated with a special presentation. We’ll hear about World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, and Warcraft Rumble, as Blizzard Entertainment has listed them on their website, but there will also be surprises… and it’s no surprise that Warcraft II and III will also be on the program.

Stiven also released four images, including the logo and the key art, the digital equivalent of the box art. If all this is true, Blizzard may have learned from the mistakes of Warcraft III: Reforged (which was a complete reimagining of the game, and while the gameplay was improved, the graphics were not very appealing to gamers). Warcraft II was originally released in 1995 for PC and Mac, and in 1997 for the SEGA Saturn and PS1. Then came the expansions, and since then the game has been available on GOG and even Battle.net.

If a remaster comes out, will the past be erased? In other words, will the remaster take the place of the original and become unobtainable?
