PlayStation 5 Pro: Has a Problematic Game Been Fixed?

One game hasn’t been showing great visuals on the more powerful PlayStation 5 lately, but the developers have released a fix for that.

Silent Hill 2 Remake has received update 1.06. This was also for the PlayStation 5 Pro, and while it fixed the map markers in the game, it was more of an effort by the Bloober team to fix graphical bugs that caused the game to look much worse than it did when played on the original PlayStation 5. The Quality and Performance modes give a better experience on the PlayStation 5 Pro, according to Digital Foundry, with a more stable 30/60 FPS frame rate, but before the patch, stability bugs that weren’t present on the base console made the overall experience worse, and the implementation of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution upscaling was also poor.

On PlayStation 5, a trophy counting bug was fixed, and some graphical glitches were fixed on PlayStation 5 Pro. On Steam, they fixed an issue that caused interference between game saves and controller vibration, improved the mouse sensitivity range and value interval, and fixed a bug related to mouse input. The following fixes apply to both platforms.

Fixed door markings on the Brookhaven Hospital map. Improved traversal points and fixed an issue where enemies could get stuck. Fixed audio glitch in the bull section of Toluca Prison. Fixed a minor blocker in the maze (a player was unable to leave either side of the maze after receiving the map). Fixed map markers for the Boar Lot in Toluca Prison and west of Southvale. Fixed a bug with Maria’s navigation. Fixed a problem where some of Maria’s lines would occur multiple times. Fixed a problem where the final boss was missing and a movement bug. Fixed a problem where mannequins would get stuck in ambush mode.

Fixed interactions with items that were difficult to obtain. Improved boss animations. Added a walkthrough for picking up the plate in the final Toluca Prison puzzle. Fixed translation issue when changing difficulty during gameplay. Fixed the wall animation during the Abstract Daddy fight based on user feedback. Fixed a problem where the game would not progress after a cutscene when using low FPS. Fixed a progression block issue in Brookhaven Hospital. Fixed some issues with lights in Southvale East at night. Fixed a problem with mannequin physics. Fixed other minor issues with objects, collision detection, typos, lighting, drawing, and loading.

Hopefully the game will now run better on the PlayStation 5 Pro.
