The gaming industry is keeping a close eye on when Rockstar and Take-Two’s game will hit the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and stores (because it will definitely have a retail release).
Grand Theft Auto VI will be the biggest release in the gaming industry to date. No word yet on when it will be released: the publisher has so far held firm that it will hit Sony and Microsoft consoles in the fall of 2025, but there have been rumors that Rockstar might not finish the long-awaited new episode until 2026, which is getting so much attention that the entire gaming industry is seriously watching to see when Take-Two will release it…
Bloomberg reported that publishers are now waiting to see what Take-Two and Rockstar have planned before committing to a possible fall 2025 release. Everyone wants to release their game as far away from Grand Theft Auto VI as possible, which isn’t surprising given all the attention on the new episode of GTA (which may be accompanied by a new Grand Theft Auto Online).
Back in May, Take-Two said that they were still planning for fall 2025 (so it could be released in September, which is when Grand Theft Auto V arrived on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013), but as ambitious as the title is, it’s possible that it could end up being 2026 (say spring) for Grand Theft Auto VI, which will be released first on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. What about the PC port? Rockstar and Take-Two have yet to confirm this, but with Grand Theft Auto V finally getting there, it’s only a matter of time. The question is how long. A year? A year and a half?
There will probably be compromises on consoles, as there’s also the possibility that even the PlayStation 5 Pro won’t be able to run Rockstar’s new cash cow at 60 FPS…
